IN THIS LESSON

We use a multi-step sourcing process that focuses on accuracy, clarity, and trust. Our highest priority sources include:

Government and Institutional Sources
(e.g. CDC, Census Bureau, Department of Education)
These offer direct data, policies, and statistics.

Peer-Reviewed Research
(e.g. journals indexed on PubMed, JAMA, NIH)
We rely on these when discussing health, science, and medical issues.

Investigative Journalism from Credible Outlets
(e.g. ProPublica, Associated Press, Reuters, NPR)
We verify that stories are confirmed across multiple sources.

Nonprofit and Watchdog Organizations
(e.g. Brennan Center for Justice, ACLU, Guttmacher Institute)
We use these when they provide original research or expert analysis.

What we avoid:

  • Wikipedia

  • TikToks or Instagram "hot takes"

  • Blogs without citations

  • Partisan news sources with weak fact-checking

  • AI-generated content from unknown origins

All of our sources are cited at the end of each series. If a source changes or becomes outdated, we will update the content accordingly.
